The editorial on 'Women abuse' that was published in the issue of"The Independent" on 17th October, 2005 bears a great message, which is verypertinent in this present century so vitally concerned with human rights. In allScriptures of the various major religions there is recorded in unequivocal terms the highstatus of woman in human society. Still most of the people in the world, through the agesand even now are deliberately misinterpreting or distorting the scriptures to keep womenin a lower status because of one unholy excuse or other just to gain undue privileges theyare not entitled to according to divine providence. It's really a great sorrowfulcondition for women to be in unbelievably even in this present century. Contrary to whatmost think or believe, it shows clearly the low status of man. This is because the picturethat emerges is one of sheer exploitation and degrading abuse. Such men cannot callthemselves a gentleman or be human.

Everyday we get hundreds of news regarding the abuse of women aroundthe world. Many men in the different countries of the world are using women as sex slavesboth domestically and commercially. That is, some other countries are keeping women withinfour walls cutting off or down their liberty, while some others are abusing them as bornlabourer, again domestically or in terms of sexual abuse.

Even in the Western countries where standard of living is highseemingly as heaven, women are not being treated up to the standard as ought to be. Nowoman has yet been president in the USA, leave alone being there on as regular a basis asa man. Of course, some might say that for that matter only Caucasians have been President,no black no Asian, no Hispanic, no… This is despite the fact that Americans are proudof their development and power. They are even now incapable of being proud of their womenleaders as in some other countries, including even Third World countries and especiallyMuslim countries.

In the recent past, it was very difficult to move freely in Sherpurdistrict because of the criminal elements. This was the most pressing problem of thisdistrict. Recently the RAB has taken a serious step to try and stop corruption and othercrimes. It is true that it is good for all. I congratulate the RAB for its signal successin this kind of achievement. To be frank, there was no life security at the working placesbefore RAB. We, the general people were waiting this sort of action for a long, long time.Now we can see RAB everywhere. There is hardly any area where the RAB is not present. Theyare working daily to make our Bangladesh beautiful and meaningful in this world. So, weall should help the RAB cordially by informing correct information against the corruptionand need to be careful not to destroy liberty in our anxiety to stamp out crime fromsociety. If we stand by RAB and work sincerely and love our country, peace and amity amongus can never be tarnished.
