Submitted by admin on Sat, 2007-04-28 11:00.

Nothing says "responsibility" like Paris Hilton. This prom season, the socialite's naked "corpse" will be used as an educational tool for teens getting ready for the big dance. The "corpse" was created by Daniel Edwards, who Hilton herself had reportedly commissioned to create a sculpture of her for Los Angeles' Sunset Strip. This probably isn't what she had in mind. The interactive PSA will be a life-sized replica of Hilton (with her privelaged pup Tinkerbell) wearing a tiara, gripping on to her cell phone, and containing...removable innards in her opened abdominal cavity. Somehow this is meant to warn teenagers about the hazards of underage drinking.

So with Paris's legs up in stirrups for postmortem pelvic examination, what does the autopsy ultimately reveal? A "double abortion" of fetal twins discovered in her uterus. So, like, no sex on prom night either, kids.

Opening reception is May 11th from 6 to 9pm at Capla Kesting Fine Art [121 Roebling St, Williamsburg]. Gallery hours are noon to 6pm Tuesday thru Sunday.

I will also say that if this saves someone from drunk driving it might be the only redeeming thing ever even tangentially connected to the parasitic creature in human shape that is Paris Hilton.

Sick and twisted. I LOVE it. There are probably so many people out there that want to kill her. Killing her through an artwork is the next best thing.

I'm NO fan of Paris Hilton but, even so, this sculpture actually makes me feel sorry for her. It seems to me that the artist is the opportunistic sleazeball in this case.

Okay, I'm no fan of Paris, but this strikes me as disgusting and macabre. Having students write an obituary for a still-living person is something that is just too sick to contemplate.

This is kind of 2-bit. It's the same guy that did the Britney Spears gives birth sculpture. It seems like some artiste has a hankering for the media spotlight.

Pretty Gorgeous Sculpture. I think is sums up 21st Century Iconography pretty well. Expresses our deepest desires for the most inane, we're obsessive psychotics, living in the most pathologic of times. The piece brings to mind Golden Calves and Nebuchadnezzar's Monument.
