Wikipedia defines Human rights as universal rights of human beings regardless of jurisdiction or other factors, such as ethnicity, nationality, religion, or sex. The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights -- the foundation of our modern human rights movement -- was written in 1948 by Eleanor Roosevelt. This was after the tragic loss of 50 million lives in World War II. Despite its relevance today, a survey taken for the Declaration's 50th anniversary found that 92% of those polled had never heard of it.

Joy Gendusa, CEO of PostcardMania, created a pro bono division within her postcard marketing firm to help non-profit organizations who were dedicated to helping mankind and the world become a better place. The Human Rights Walk-a-thon, whose purpose was to educate all people in Basic Human Rights as set forth in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights was right in line with her own purpose.

The proceeds from the Human Rights Walk-a-thon will go towards furthering unification and education for human rights by supporting such groups as Youth for Human Rights and the Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking.

Youth for Human Rights International is a program of the International Foundation for Human Rights and Tolerance, an independent non-profit corporation headquartered in Los Angeles. It was formed in 2001 by an educator from South Africa in coordination with the Church of Scientology Human Rights Department. Its purpose is to educate people in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights so they become valuable advocates for tolerance and peace. The organization holds events and produces instructional tools to raise human rights awareness. Most recently, they released a series of 30 audiovisual public service announcements, one for each article of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Released in late 2005, the PSAs have been screened to more than 130 million people. For more information visit www.humanrightswalkathon.org .
